The annual Tattoo Festival at Wat Bang Phra is held usually on the first Saturday in March. Exact dates we will show you next year.

On the evening before the festival starts, thousands of people from all over Thailand travel to the temple, in order to get that evening a magical tattoo. In this night, the monks are working all night long for tattooing.

The next day, the main festival is held. Here, all tattoos are blessed by the monks and refilled with power and magic energy.

The monks are standing on the front of a temple and sing their katas (similar mantras) to activate the tattoos. Many people fall into a kind of trance and begin to move and to behave like the motif of magical tattoo behaves. People with a crocodile or a snake are moving on the earth, people with tiger tattoos move like a tiger, and so on.

If the tattoos of the perople have gathered enough power, they slowly wake up from their trance again. Some people unloads the energy in a long scream.
